Speech and Language Screener
Speech and Language Screening:
*Cost - $55
Duration: The screening typically lasts around 30 minutes, although this may vary depending on the individual child's attention span and specific needs.
What is a speech and language screener? A speech and language screener is a brief, informal assessment designed to determine whether a child may benefit from additional speech and language therapy sessions. This screener can also identify the need for a more detailed evaluation if significant challenges are noted.
Key areas of focus during the screening include:
- Articulation and phonology (the production of speech sounds)
- Speech intelligibility
- Receptive language
- Expressive language
If you have specific concerns to address, such as stuttering or social-emotional communication skills, please share these with me before the screening.
After the screener, you will receive a brief written report summarizing the results, which will include your child's strengths and potential areas of need.
If it is determined that your child has age-appropriate speech and language skills, no further appointments will be necessary.
If it is determined that your child exhibits delayed speech and/or language skills as compared to their peers, speech therapy will be recommended to improve these skills. A meeting will be scheduled via phone or Zoom call with the parents, during which the report, including concerns and recommendations, will be discussed in detail. At that time, the SLP will review a possible speech therapy plan with specific target areas and recommendations for the frequency of sessions.
Suppose the screener identifies several speech and language concerns that are negatively impacting the student’s ability to communicate or understand language. Instead of starting speech therapy immediately, a formal speech evaluation may be recommended to the student’s parents. A formal speech evaluation will further assess all speech and language concerns using standardized assessment tools, which allow the SLP to determine if a speech and/or language disorder is present or not.

Speech Therapy: Telehealth/Virtual
Speech Therapy Session: Telehealth/Virtual
*Cost-- $60 (30 minutes)
Similar to in-person sessions, parents will have the opportunity to discuss all details related to speech therapy, and I will create a personalized treatment plan accordingly. Student session notes and homework are sent via text after each session.
The parent must sign a consent form for telehealth services before the commencement of any virtual sessions.
Telehealth provides a convenient and accessible model for delivering speech services, enabling families to participate in therapy from the comfort of their own homes. Virtual Speech Therapy mirrors the one-on-one intervention format, utilizing a computer, iPad, or tablet via a HIPAA-compliant platform.
Recent research from ASHA has shown that outpatient SLP treatments, delivered either in-person or via telepractice, yield comparable levels of improvement on clinician-reported measures. During virtual sessions, students and I will be able to see one another, allowing for effective speech modeling and facilitation. We can also share specialized digital activities in real-time, enhancing the experience as if we were together in person.
Parents are encouraged to participate in telehealth sessions, especially for young or preschool-aged students.

Formal Speech - Language Evaluation
Formal Speech and Language Evaluation:
*Cost: $650
Formal evaluation offers a more comprehensive understanding of your child's speech and language development. Standardized assessments are administered to gain further insight into your child's current speech and language skills, which provide formal test scores that are then compared to those of their same-age peers to determine if your child is developing appropriately. These scores can give a student with a specific diagnosis or diagnosis in all areas of speech and language development (i.e., "articulation disorder" or an "expressive language disorder"
The formal evaluation process typically requires approximately 2.5 to 1.5 hours spent with the student, which can be divided into two sessions, if needed.
Should further assessments be necessary to evaluate specific areas such as literacy, fluency, pragmatics/social language skills, or augmentative and alternative communication skills, the fee for the formal evaluation may be adjusted accordingly based on the amount of time required.
This SLP will score all assessments to determine final test scores and generate a comprehensive, formal evaluation report, which will be emailed directly to the students' parents.
If the student receives a speech and language diagnosis, parents may want to share these results with the child's pediatrician and teachers at their school.
If the student attends a public school, their parents should be encouraged to share this information with the school's Speech and Language Pathologist and explore the possibility of eligibility for speech therapy in the school.
